Highway works in Telangana hit by delay in land acquisition: Kishan Reddy

The Centre has proposed to develop 865-km National Highways in Telangana state in 2022 with an outlay of Rs 23,000 crore, he said

Hyderabad: Stating that the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) would have full Union government funding, as part of its endeavour to develop Hyderabad, Union tourism minister G. Kishan Reddy said that the Centre has allocated thousands of crores for developing national highways in Telangana state in a phased manner.

Finding fault with the state government in delaying acquisition of land needed for expanding national highways, Reddy said that at least 274 km-long works have come up at a cost of Rs 7,040 crore. Works on National Highways stretching up to 336 km are underway at different places in Telangana state at a cost of Rs 8,563 crore. The Centre has proposed to develop 865-km National Highways in Telangana state in 2022 with an outlay of Rs 23,000 crore, he said.

Projects completed last year include four-lane NH-161 from Kandi to Ramsnpalle, four-lane of NH-161 from Mangalore up to Telangana state border, four-lane of Suryapet to Khammam, and another four-lane stretch on NH-363 from Mancherial to Repallewada.

This year, the agreement between Nationanl Highway Authority of India and concessionaire saw the completion of laning of NH-363 from Repallewada to Maharashtra border and four-lane NH-365A from Kodad to Khammam.
Construction of four-lane greenfield highway section of NH-365BG (Khammam- Devarapalli), four-lane NH-163 from Hyderabad (ORR near APPA to Manneguda), four-lane Karimnagar-Warangal section of NH-563, six lanes access controlled highway of Julekal village to Dinnedevarapadu are all underway.

Detaled Project Reports have been ready for four laning Mancherial-Warangal, 4/6 laning of Warangal-Khammam, 4/6 laning of Khammam-Telangana state border at AP, four-laning of Marikal and Jadcherla, four lanes of Jagityal-Karimnagar, 4/6 lanes of Karimnagar-Telagnana state/Maharashtra border, four-laning of Armoor-Mancheriyal and RRR to Hyderabad on NH-161AA, all allotted for 2023.
