Probe into stamp papers scam begins

Jayavanth Rao, in his complaint, stated that a scam worth '80 lakh took place in the sale of stamp papers since 2014.

Adilabad: Police began inquiry into the alleged Rs 80 lakh scam related to the sale of registration stamp papers in the Adilabad sub-registrar office in the district headquarters.

District registrar Jayavanth Rao lodged a complaint with the II Town police against junior assistant Inthiyaz and cashier Kapil Kumar working in the the sub-registrar office on December 13.

II Town police station CI Nagaraju registered a case following a complaint and is investigating into it.

Jayavanth Rao, in his complaint, stated that a scam worth Rs 80 lakh took place in the sale of stamp papers since 2014. The higher officials reportedly issued orders suspending Inthiyaz and Kapil Kumar, for their alleged involvement in the scam.
