No noise over EVM hacking' after polls result

The EVM controversy gained traction before the elections compelling A.K. Joti to state that there can be no EVM tampering.

New Delhi: No political party has complained to the Election Commission about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) being tampered with in the recently concluded Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, results of which were declared on Monday.

Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Hardik Patel did allege on Monday that EVMs were tampered with as the BJP headed for its fifth straight term in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state. The 23-year-old leader of a fiery campaign for reservations for the Patidar community said the Congress and all opposition parties should unite against the machines, which, he said, were responsible for false results in at least a dozen seats. The EVM controversy gained traction before the elections compelling chief election commissioner A.K. Joti to state that there can be no EVM tampering.

On Monday morning he reiterated that there was no tampering of the machines, and the paper trail ensured there was no scope for manipulating the process.
