Note ban a daring act, says Venkaiah Naidu

Black money and corruption are weakening the country's economic system and to cure this cancer, chemotherapy has to be done: Venkaiah Naidu.

Vijayawada: Union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu said demonetisation is a daring decision by PM Narendra Modi and the Union government is pursuing on the proposal to support every individual in health terms covering Rs 1 lakh per annum. He also said that Union government is likely to spend the demonetisation benefits received for the development of farmers. He interacted with media at Swarnabharathi Trust in Vijayawada.

“The demonetisation drive launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unearth black money, rid the economy of counterfeit notes and check corruption,” said Union urban development minister Mr Venkaiah Naidu.

Addressing the media the minister said the demonetisation of the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes is part of the Central government’s strategy to transform India into a cashless economy. “Demonetisation will encourage a formal economy, improve tax collection, open up opportunities for the poor and middle class, stop funding for weapons smuggling, espionage, and terrorism as well as put an end to large circulation of counterfeit currency,” he added.

The Union minister further said despite certain people with vested interests trying to spread misconceptions about the exercise, the common man has understood the future benefits of demonetisation.

“Black money and corruption are weakening the country’s economic system and to cure this cancer, chemotherapy has to be done. In the beginning, there may be pain but there will be larger gains in the long run,” he said, adding that demonetisation would reduce economic disparities, develop a transparent society and benefit the less privileged.

BJP state president K. Haribabu addressing the media here on Sunday said Pawan Kalyan tweets are foolish and we don’t know the reasons which brought differences in Pawan Kalyan on BJP policies and changed his opinions but BJP is the same with no changes in its policies.

Responding to the Rohit Vemula issue he said BJP never involves with the matters of the universities. The Supreme Court has given directions on National Anthem and how is it related to BJP patriotism? Mr Haribabu also said Pawan Kalyan even misunderstood on cow slaughter issue, but we are on the same stand as we earlier mentioned.
