Priyanka tells unemployed youths: Don't give jobs to BRS, BJP

Says MIM, BJP and BRS doing Naatu Naatu' dance, alleging backdoor dealings

Khanapur, Asifabad: AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday tailored her pitch to the Telangana electorate by accusing the MIM, BRS and BJP of “jointly doing the Naatu Naatu dance”, as she appealed to unemployed youths “not to give jobs to CM KCR”.

Addressing Vijayabheri Sabha meetings in Khanapur and Asifabad Assembly constituencies, she appealed to the people to be conscious of the three parties “that are hoodwinking you”.

Priyanka Gandhi also profusely thanked the public for turning out in large numbers despite India taking on Australia in the cricket World Cup final.

Targeting the unemployed youths, she promised that the Congress would issue a job calendar to fill 2 lakh vacancies and stick to its timelines, while simultaneously rapping the BRS for its failure in this regard.

Accusing the ruling party of swindling public money and land by using the Dharani portal, she said people would face hardships if the BRS returned and that the unemployed “would have no future”.

Priyanka Gandhi said that Congress governments in other states were providing health insurance to the poor and a scheme on similar lines would be implemented in Telangana, alongside “effective implementation of the six guarantees”.

She said that a vote for the BJP or MIM would end up in favour of BRS as the three parties had an understanding.

Priyanka Gandhi, namechecking MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, questioned why they are contesting only nine seats in Telangana, but 40 to 90 in other states.

She also questioned why the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre did not take action against BRS leaders who were facing corruption charges in the Delhi excise policy scam and Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, while “the same BJP used the ED and CBI against Opposition parties.”

“Both the BRS and BJP are the same,” said Priyanka, recalling that the BRS supported all BJP bills, including the three farm sector ones that were later repealed.

She said that the Congress government would focus on ‘Gram Swaraj’, which was propagated by Mahatma Gandhi.

Saying that the public was in the mood to bring the Congress to power for their empowerment, Priyanka Gandhi recollected her grandmother and former PM Indira Gandhi’s attachment to Adivasis and the respect she had for their cultures and traditions.

“Indira Gandhi used to tell us in our childhood that Adivasis are real owners of the ‘Jal, Jangal and Jameen (water, forests and land)’ and she also used to say that the power should be in the hands of people who have respect for nature,” Priyanka said, citing the enactment of the Forest Rights Act under the Congress-led UPA government’s regime.

She said that the cricket World Cup-winning team in 1983 was invited by Indira Gandhi for high tea at her residence and urged the public to pray for a similar outcome this time around.

Former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan, Telangana incharge Manikrao Thakre, AICC observer Rohit Chowdhury and MLA Rekha Naik were among those present.

She urged voters to support Congress candidates Vedma Bojju, Ade Gajender, Srihari Rao, Ravi Srinivas and Shyam Naik to get a vision and roadmap for development and welfare of all communities.
