There’s political vacuum in TN, reiterates Pon Radhakrishnan
CHENNAI: Taunting the AIADMK, BJP senior and former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan reiterated that there is political vacuum in Tamil Nadu post former Chief Ministers J. Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi.
“There’s no doubt about it. There is political vacuum in Tamil Nadu. It is because two of the tallest leaders of the State – Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi - are not alive. They were very big leaders who had the support of the people,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said on Monday.
This is not the first time Mr. Radhakrishnan had admitted leadership vacuum in the State. On Nov. 11, Mr. Radhakrishnan endorsed Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth’s view of political void in Tamil Nadu. His party colleague and State general secretary Vanathi Srinivasan too backed Mr. Radhakrishnan’s view.
Speaking to reporters after paying floral tributes to VOC’s statue in Tirunelveli, Mr. Radhakrishnan said his BJP has emerged as a strong force to contest in all the vacant seats in the local bodies elections.
“We are fully prepared to face the civic bodies polls even if it were to be held tomorrow,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said and added that only the party with which the BJP forges electoral alliance will win the next Assembly election in the State.
Mr. Pon Radhakrishnan who had been the former Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping, claimed that BJP’s alliance with the AIADMK was only for the Lok Sabha elections and that alliance with the ruling party for the local bodies elections would be decided by the BJP leadership.
