Vijayashanti Offers to Take on KCR in Kamareddy

KCR announced he would be contesting from Kamareddy, in addition to Gajwel, this time around

Hyderabad: Actress and former MP Vijayashanti, a special invitee to the BJP’s national executive council, on Wednesday, said she was ready to go up against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in the upcoming Assembly elections in Kamareddy.

Rao announced he would be contesting from Kamareddy, in addition to Gajwel, this time around.

Vijayashanti posted on X: “The BJP cadre believe that the party will not hesitate for a fight against the BRS. Hence it is not wrong on the part of the workers to seek that Bandi Sanjay contest from Gajwel and I contest from Kamareddy against KCR. Though contesting MLA elections is not my intention in view of the situation some strategic decisions need to be taken sometimes is a given.”

A few days ago, BJP’s Huzurabad MLA Etala Rajendar, who heads the committee to admit defectors, had said he would fight against Rao in Gajwel, besides contesting in Huzurabad as well.

Rajendar had made the statement while responding to the statement of civil supplies minister Gangula Kamalakar, asking him to contest against Rao. The demand also seems to be emanating from the fact that Gajwel has a good number of voters from the Mudiraj community.
