Gandhis gave lives for nation: Revanth

The TPCC president demanded that KCR tell where they got the lakhs of crores of rupees and thousands of acres of land from

Hyderabad: TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday criticised BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for questioning the credentials of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak on family rule, unemployment and corruption in Telangana.

Addressing a public meeting in Peddapalli on Thursday, Revanth Reddy said if the Gandhi family had given statehood to Telangana, the Kalvakuntla family would have been begging in front of Nampally Dargah or Birla Mandir today.

He said the Gandhi family sacrificed their lives for the nation, while the Kalvakuntal family looted Telangana, amassed wealth, encroached thousands of acres, and built farmhouses in the last nine years.

"Why is KTR so adamant? The Gandhi family ruled the country for 60 years but they have no houses. But KCR's family built several farmhouses within 10 years of coming to power. If the Gandhi family had not given statehood to Telangana, KTR would have been washing toilets in America. While the Gandhi family made sacrifices for the country, KCR cheated the people in the name of neellu (water), nidhulu (funds), and niyamakalu (jobs). Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi even refused to take over the post of Prime Minister despite getting opportunities," Revanth Reddy said.

The TPCC president demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao tell where they got the lakhs of crores of rupees and thousands of acres of land from. "How could KCR's family earn a thousand-acre farmhouse in 10 years? KCR's family is the one who has accumulated assets worth Rs 1 lakh crore rupees around Hyderabad," he alleged.

He slammed Rama Rao for questioning the Congress’ contribution to the development of Telangana.

"The Congress governments have constructed huge projects like Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam, Sriramsagar, Nettempadu. It brought IT projects, international airport, metro rail to Hyderabad. Jawaharlal Nehru brought independence to Telangana from the Nizam. Rajiv Gandhi introduced computers to the country. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country. Rajiv Gandhi was a great man who gave the youth the right to vote at the age of 18," he said.

Stating that the poor will get justice only in "Indiramma Rajyam", Revanth Reddy said the Congress will implement the Six Guarantees that it promised to the people of Telangana within 100 days after coming to power.

He appealed to the voters to elect Congress candidate Vijaya Ramana Rao from the Peddapalli Assembly constituency with a majority of 50,000 votes.
