Ours is a familial relationship, not political, Rahul tells TS public

Peddapalli: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in a public meeting at Peddapalli on Thursday, said that the relationship between the Gandhi family and the people of Telangana was not a political one, but rather a parivarik (familial) one.

In an address as part of the Vijayabheri Bus Yatra, he questioned why Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were afraid of a caste census, promising one if the Congress wins the state polls.

Rahul Gandhi accused the state government of taking land from the poor, under the guise of digitising records, using the Dharani portal. He said that the Rythu Bandhu scheme benefited only big farmers and landlords, and not the poorer tenant farmers.

He also accused the BRS of extending support to anti-people bills in the Parliament, including the farm laws and GST, brought in by the BJP.

Later, the bus yatra moved to Karimnagar town.
