Need time to decide on Prasad's resignation: Karnataka Assembly Speaker
Bengaluru: Refuting reports that he had not accepted the resignation of former minister ,V Srinivas Prasad from the state Assembly, Speaker K B Koliwad said he needed some time to consider it.
“It is the prerogative of the Speaker whether to accept or reject a resignation, but I have not yet taken a decision on Mr Prasad. I need to discuss it with officials,'' he told reporters here. On Monday when Mr Prasad submitted his resignation, Mr Koliwad had asked him if he was acting under some pressure or if he was frustrated over being dropped as minister and based on his response concluded that the latter was more true.
Responding to a question, the Speaker of the Assembly said that he had posted the hearing of a petition by the Janata Dal (Secular) asking to disqualify its eight MLAs, who had cross -voted for the Congress in the Rajya Sabha elections some months ago, to October 27. He, however, refused to divulge any more details, saying he would take a decision in the matter once the hearing was completed.
