Centre halts transfer of Telangana staff issues to High court
Hyderabad: The Centre has written to the Telangana state government that it would not be possible to transfer cases pending with the AP Administrative Tribunal unless the apex committee took a decision regarding it.
This was in the wake of objections raised by the High Court regarding transfer of cases pending with the AP Administrative Tribunal. The Centre said that since the Tribunal was listed in the 10th Schedule Institutions of the AP Reorganisation Act, the approval of the apex committee was needed to transfer pending cases.
The Centre had constituted the apex committee under the chairmanship of the joint secretary of the Union home ministry to look into sharing of assets of Schedule 10 institutions between AP and TS.
From Telangana state, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and Advocate-General K. Ramakrishna Reddy, and from AP State Planning Board deputy chairman C. Kutumba Rao and retired IAS officer S. Bala Subrahmanyam are the members.
The committee has to approve the decision of the Telangana state government regarding transfer of cases pending with the Administrative Tribunal.
The Telangana state government had taken the decision to remove the state from the purview of the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal and had transferred about 8,500 cases pertaining to Telangana state employees pending before the tribunal to the High Court.
Following a request by the Telangana state government, the Centre had issued a gazette notification on September 15 ending the jurisdiction of the Tribunal over Telangana state.
