BS Yeddyurappa, KS Eshwarappa bury the hatchet
BENGALURU: Two squabbling leaders in the state unit of BJP, state unit president B. S. Yeddyurappa and Opposition leader in the Legislative Council, K.S. Eshwarappa, agreed to burry their differences in the interest of party, but the latter stuck to stand that he would continue to identify with the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade. Mr. Eshwarappa has assured Mr Yeddyurappa that the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade would be an apolitical forum in future.
In presence of senior RSS leaders, these two leaders had met in Bengaluru on October 15, with Mr. Eshwarappa firmly stating that few decisions of the state unit president was against the interest of the party. They included “unilateral” decision of Mr. Yeddyurappa in appointment of office bearers in district and state level, a move which hurt scores of party workers. In the closed door meeting, Mr. Eshwarappa told the Lingayat strongman “the party has declared you as the CM candidate for 2018 elections, but unlike in the past your are taking unilateral decisions without consulting the core committee. The party workers have expressed anguish about your decisions.”
Annoyed by these remarks of Mr Eshwarappa, Mr. Yeddyurappa reportedly shot back: “which decisions of mine went wrong? I have taken these decisions in the interest of the party.” Mr. Eshwarappa then spoke about controversial decisions taken by Mr Yeddyurappa without consulting the core committee. Mr. Yeddyurappa then agreed to rectify his mistakes.
