BENGALURU: Some “Dynasts” within the ruling Congress are evidently stonewalling party’s effort to constitute booth-level committees, entities, which would carryout the initial spadework, to ensure the candidate’s victory in elections to the Assembly in 2018.
Party sources said 10 days ago, party general secretary in charge of state K.C. Venugopal sent a message to all MLAs, many of whom occupy party posts, too, to cooperate in constitution of booth level committees. As a follow up, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar, chaired a meeting to prepare a roadmap for the ‘Mane Manege Congress ‘ programme.
A former MLA, Gadda Devaramath, complained to Dr Parameshwar about how the process of constitution of booth committees reached a dead-end everywhere with legislators opposing this move. “They are not cooperating. Wherever we went, we got negative reaction from our MLAs. You please intervene and sort out the issue if you want us to constitute these committees.” Sources said legislators, who had converted their constituencies into fiefdoms, had opposed booth committees with new faces. “The legislators did not want the control of the constituencies to go away to some committees from their hands. They want to control the electioneering process. So, they opposed the constitution of these committees. This is the direct impact of dynasts on our state,” sources said.
After receiving several complaints, Dr Parameshwar assured that he would discuss the issue with CM Siddaramaiah, and arrange a joint meeting with office bearers and legislators and ministers to find a solution to this issue....
