Nirmal Master Plan: BJP MLA Raghunandan seeks cancellation of GO-220

ADILABAD: Dubbaka BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao has said Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy should cancel the GO 220 issued for a Master Plan for Nirmal Municipality.

The MLA challenged the minister to order an inquiry into allegations that he had encroached on government and FTL lands and registered those in the names of his benamis and relatives from Nirmal to Gachibowli (Hyderabad). “The probe must be done by a sitting high court judge.”

If you are not guilty of land grab, you must prove it,” the MLA said while addressing the party cadre after extending his support to Aleti Maheshwar, who sat on a hunger strike at his house in Nirmal town seeking cancellation of the master plan.

He alleged that lands that come under the green zone are being converted into the residential zone and later into industrial zone in the guise of the master plan, so as to sell these for higher prices. “Crores are changing hands in the process and the people of Manjulapur and Talweda are facing a lot of problems with the master plan,” he said.

Raghunandan alleged that a new collectorate building was constructed near Yellapalli village, the native place of minister Indrakaran in order to create value for the private lands owned by the minister. “The village area was converted from the green zone to commercial and residential properties for real estate business so as to create high value for the lands,” he said.

As a result, the people are facing a lot of hardships to reach the collectorate set far away from the town. “They are forced to spend '200 on transport to go there and return,” the MLA said.

Raghunandan said agricultural lands were acquired 20 years ago from the farmers at cheaper prices at Sofinagar in the name of developing an industrial zone and creating jobs for locals. But, in reality, no industry was set up till now and no jobs were created, he said.

He said the minister must return the lands acquired from the farmers. The farmers will return the amounts they had taken for their lands. The farmers are entitled to get their lands back if no industry is established as per the Supreme Court order, the BJP legislator noted.

ZPTC Bhukya Janaki, BJP leaders Ayyannagari Bhumaiah, Ravula Ramnath, and other leaders were present.

According to party sources, Karimnagar MP and former BJP state president Bandi Sanjay will visit Maheshwar Reddy’s hunger strike camp on Saturday.
