Karimnagar: Minister Gangula Kamalakar, the Karimnagar MLA, and TRS Choppadandi legislator Sunke Ravishankar, the party poll campaign in-charges for Huzurabad constituency, are finding themselves in a difficult situation. They are being blasted in their constituencies over the non-implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme in those areas.

Leaders of the Opposition in Karimnagar district are demanding that the minister and the MLA either get the TRS government to implement the Dalit Bandhu scheme in their constituencies too, and also bring funds for development there, or resign from their posts.

TPCC secretary Suprabath Rao alleged that the TRS government is cheating the Dalits for the past seven years and not fulfilling even a single promise that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had made to them. “Every time there are elections, KCR and his team will come up with one or other hollow promises and grab the votes from the people. They forget about the promise after the polls. In view of the Huzurabad by-elections, KCR has come up with the Dalit Bndhu offer to the dalits. This is because dalits form a significant segment of the voters in Huzurabad constituency,” he said.

The Congress leader said BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar is visiting every household in the constituency and assuring the people that they will be included in the Dalit bandhu scheme and given government funds, but he is neglecting the people of his own constituency who elected him.

Karimnagar is lagging behind in developmental matters. But, Kamalakar is not bothered about this and is rather determined to defeat former minister Etala Rajendar in Huzurabad, he said.

City Congress president, Narendar Reddy, said the Congress party is not against sanctioning of Rs.10 lakh to each dalit in Huzurabad constituency. But why is minister Kamalakar not taking the same interest in implementing the scheme for the dalits and tribals of Karimnagar constituency, he asked.

“By September 17, Kamalakar must implement the Dalit Bandhu in Karimnagar constituency too, as the TRS government is doing for the poll-bound Huzurabad. Otherwise he must resign both the minister and MLA posts,” he demanded.

If not, the Congress party along with thousands of people from tribal and dalit communities will lay siege to his house and will not allow him enter Karimnagar assembly segment, he warned.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the BJP SC Morcha district unit collected the applications from the people for implementation of several schemes in the Choppadandi assembly segment of Karimnagar district. District president of the SC Morcha, Somidi Venu Prasad, alleged that Choppadandi is reserved for Scheduled Castes.

"But the TRS MLA Sunke Ravishankar did not exert any pressure on the state government to help the SCs in the past three years of his term as MLA. He did not exert pressure on the state government for either the sanctioning of three acres of land or the allotment of double bedroom houses for dalits in the constituency.

Ravi Shankar must submit his resignation like what Etala Rajendar did, if he is not able to bring funds for developmental activities and for the implementation of the dalit bandhu scheme in the constituency," the SC Morcha leader said.Meanwhile, the representatives of various people’s organisations in Dharmapuri assembly segment demanded that welfare minister Koppula Eshwar resign his post because of his failure to bring about the development for the constituency and due to the non-implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme in Dharmapuri.
