K Chandrashekhar Rao wants policy for 24x7 power

He said the state was facing a power deficit when it was formed but remedied the situation in six months.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao said that there was a need to bring a comprehensive national power policy to give quality, uninterrupted power to all sectors.

While speaking with Power Finance Corporation (PFC) chairman Rajeev Sharma, Mr Rao said, “of the total captive power generation in the country, not even half of it is being utilised. Several parts in the country are living without power and at many places there are frequent power cuts all over the country. There is a need to get over this.”

He said the state was facing a power deficit when it was formed but remedied the situation in six months.” The government is now supplying quality power to all sectors 24x7. “This is the first of its kind in the country,” Mr Rao said.
