3 from JD(U) may join Modi Cabinet

The JD(U) had snapped ties with the BJP ahead of the last Lok Sabha election and joined hands with it again last month.

New Delhi: The much awaited reshuffle and expansion of Narendra Modi’s council of ministers could see at least one Cabinet minister and two minister of state from Nitish Kumar led JD(U).

The JD(U) had snapped ties with the BJP ahead of the last Lok Sabha election and joined hands with it again last month. JD(U) is running the Bihar government with the BJP.

Nitish Kumar led party is likely to announce soon its alliance with the BJP led NDA at the national level too. The expansion and reshuffle of the Modi government could take place by next month. Speculation is rife that Tamil Nadu’s ruling party AIADMK, whose leaders from both factions are holding back channel talks with the BJP for joining the NDA fold, could also see two to three of its leaders in Mr Modi’s Cabinet. The two factions could also see a merger soon.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra political circle is abuzz with rumours that NCP could also join the NDA, amid growing rift between BJP and Shiv Sena and find a Cabinet berth in the Centre.
