He alleged that their deaths was the outcome of negligence of the government in making arrangements for the Krishna pushkaralu.

Vijayawada: Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said "God would not forgive the sins" of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He was speaking after taking a holy dip at the Punnami ghat here on Thursday and taking part in pinda pradanam rituals for his father Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and grandfather Y.S. Raja Reddy.

He reached Ibrahimpatnam and garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi which was demolished recently. He also consoled the family members of students who drowned in the Krishna river at Nandigama of Krishna district. He alleged that their deaths was the outcome of negligence of the government in making arrangements for the Krishna pushkaralu.

He questioned the government for not cautioning visitors of dangerous locations in the Krishna river while several legislators had erected hoardings for publicity. He demanded that the government pay Rs 20 lakh as compensation to the families of each of the five students, instead of the nominal Rs 3 lakh. He said illegal sand mining had contributed to the students drowning.
