Opposition set to unite against TD

The Left parties have already started working on an action plan on the issue.

Vijayawada: The Congress, Left and YSRC parties are joining hands to combat the government’s unilateral attitude in accepting the Swiss Challenge proposals, submitted by the

Singapore consortium of companies for the development of 6.84 sq km in CRDA limits. The Left parties have already started working on an action plan on the issue and are likely to have a dialogue with the Congress and YSRC on how to go about presenting their view. CPM state secretary P. Madhu has stated that they were also considering consulting other parties on the matter.

The much awaited e-procurement tender no-tice was placed on the web four hours behind schedule. The notification mentioned the dev-elopment of 6.84 sq km start up area of the capital city of Amaravati via PPP mode through Swiss Challenge approach under the APIDE Act, 2001, on which the all party meeting-cum-round table, held here on Sunday, already demanded that the government not allow multinational companies in.

The Rajadhani Abhivr-iddhi Vedika, which convened the round table meeting, also asked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to call for an all-party meeting immediately. The capital should be constructed with the Union government’s funds, Rajadhani Abhivriddhi Vedika chairman Pro-fessor Lakshamana Rao said.

Meanwhile, the CPM state secretary stated that they were contemplating consulting leaders of all parties to iron out the issue from a single platform.

YSRC leader and former minister K. Pardhasarathi said that they would oppose the move and were ready to fight, after discussing the matter with the party senior leaders.

PCC chief Dr N. Raghuveera Reddy had stated that a kind of war situation was transpiring in the capital area and the Congress would exercise all options to protect the interests of the farmers and oppose the move in consultation with all like-minded parties.

Former minister Dev-ineni Rajasekhar (Nehru) stated that the Congress would oppose the Swiss Challenge issue to protect the public from an MNC onslaught.
