Adagur H Vishwanath may join JD(S) by the month-end
Mysuru: Veteran Congress leader, Adagur H Vishwanath could resign from the primary membership of the party by the month end and join the Janata Dal (S) in June, going by sources close to him.
JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda and state chief, H D Kumaraswamy are reportedly in constant touch with the former Mysuru MP. And although several leaders from the BJP too have sent him feelers, he is inclined to join the JD(S), they reveal.
“Mr Vishwanath says the Congress is in his blood and it is very painful for him to leave it as it feels almost like he is leaving his own mother, as he has been associated with the party for 40 long years,” say party insiders, adding that he is being given mixed advice by his associates.
“While many Congress leaders are not openly contacting him as they are afraid of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, some have tried to convince him to stay back. But others have suggested that he should quit,” they say.
While the veteran leader is said to have high regard for AICC general secretary, Venugopal , he believes Mr Siddaramaiah is messing up things by his unwillingness to take anyone’s advice.
“He takes it personally when anything is suggested to him and so Mr Vishwanath feels that it is best to leave as he is not able to do anything else,” they explain.
