MLAs follow K Chandrasekhar Rao route in local polls
Hyderabad: Some TRS legislators are following the template set by their their party supremo, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, to select candidates for the local polls next month.
Mr Rao commissioned several surveys before selecting candidates for the recent Assembly elections. In the same way, some legislators are conducting a quick survey to select strong candidates for the zilla parishad and mandal parishad elections.
Mr Rao has nominated party legislators to select candidates for the polls, and has directed them to pick strong nominees to win all the 32 zilla parishads in the state. The party has appointed coordinators and incharges to each district.
Each Assembly constituency has four to five ZPTCs and 25 to 30 MPTCs. ZPTC members are important to capture the zilla parishad chairperson’s post.
After the reorganisation of districts, it has become easy to get the ZP chairperson’s posts in some districts. Malkajgiri district has only four ZPTCs, and the party with three ZPTCs will get the chairperson’s post. In Warangal Urban, the magic number is four Nalgonda district has highest number of ZPTCs, 31, in the state.
After consulting the district coordinators and incharges the MLAs will select the ZPTC and MPTC candidates.
