No vacancy for KPCC chief: Digvijay Singh
Bengaluru: Talking tough against senior Congress leaders such as A.H. Vishwanath and Janardhan Poojary, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday declared that the party's central disciplinary committee headed by A.K. Antony is inquiring into allegations against leaders who have been issuing anti-party statements.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Singh said, “When the Antony committee is still probing several complaints received by them, I do not wish to comment further. Instead, I would like to caution those who are issuing such statements that they will not be let off the hook and should refrain from making any such statement.”
In response to a question, Mr Singh categorically stated that the KPCC president's post was neither vacant nor was any leader fiercely competing for the post, now handled by Dr G. Parameshwar. “There is no competition for any post in the Congress. The party chooses its leader, so, it is unfortunate that the media writes about a change of guard in the KPCC whenever I visit Bengaluru,” he said. On senior leaders’ meeting held on Monday, Mr Singh said it was decided to woo voters of all sections to make the Congress bid to return to power in 2018 stronger. “The recent byelection results have proved that even upper caste voters have backed us in large numbers, so we have decided to woo them. I will be touring the drought-hit areas in the state to get a feedback,” he said.
