Captain Vijayakanth, Anbumani Ramadoss pick rural seats
Chennai: Two aspiring chief ministers of the state picked their constituencies on Monday. While the DMDK leader 'Captain' Vijayakanth chose yet another seat south of the capital in Ulundurpet after dropping his winning seat in Rishivandiyam, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss of PMK chose Pennagaram, which lies within his parliamentary constituency of Dharmapuri where he won in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
For the second consecutive election, Vijayakanth chose to shift his constituency. In his maiden election after founding the party in 2005, he won from Vridhachalam constituency in Cuddalore district. In the 2011 Assembly election, he contested successfully from Rishivandiyam in Villupuram district in alliance with AIADMK. Now he has shifted to neighbouring Ullundurpet constituency.
“People elected me against muscle and money power in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and people of the region now want me to contest from Pennagaram,” Dr Anbumani told reporters after his party released the third list of 90 candidates on Monday.
