TPCC to start legal battle

Hyderabad: After eight party legislators announced over a period of many days that they would join the TRS, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee finally woke up and said on Monday that it would fight the issue legally.
TPCC leaders said they they had no confidence that the Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy would take action on the defectors after the party’s experience in the Legislative Council where the Chairman A. Swamy Goud had merged the Congress MLCs with the TRS Legislature Party.
The TPCC is planning to approach the court on the defections and is consulting legal experts. Before approaching the court, the TPCC will serve notices on the defectors individually and seek their explanation within three days. The TPCC will approach court after that.
Meanwhile, the TPCC expelled six Congress leaders including Mr P. Karthik Reddy, the son of former minister and Maheswaram MLA Sabita Indra Reddy, who has announced her joining the TRS.
TPCC disciplinary action committee chairman M. Kodanda Reddy said the TPCC had taken the unanimous decision to expel the six leaders in view of their anti-party activities.
The others are TPCC spokespersons Ramya Rao, a relative of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Manne Krishank, former MLAs Arepalli Mohan, Soyam Babu Rao, Adilabad DCC former working president Naresh Jadhav.
Some of these leaders have already resigned from the Congress. Mr Mohan joined the TRS on Sunday, and Ms Ramya Rao and Mr Naresh Jadhav are likely to join the party.
The TPCC revoked the suspension orders against party leader Shiv Kumar Reddy from Mahbubnagar district on the request of the DCC president in view of Lok Sabha elections.
