TPCC spokesperson Manne Krishank denied ticket, sets poll material on fire
Hyderabad: TPCC official spokesperson Manne Krishank, who resigned from the Congress because he was denied a Lok Sabha ticket, set fire to election material which he said he had collected for his campaign.
In a short video that he posted on social media, he put the value of the election material, including posters and kanduvas, at Rs 15 lakh.
In the video, Mr Krishank criticised TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy for denying him the ticket. He said Mr Reddy was the cause of the Congress’s defeat and the party would soon disappear in the state.
He said that in the recent Assembly elections, he had spent huge money hoping that he would be chosen to contest. But he was denied a nomination and, moreover, he was insulted. Mr Krishank said he had left the Congress because of that.
In the Assembly elections, Mr Krishank had expected Secunderabad Cantonment seat, but it was given to his uncle, former Union minister Sarve Satyanarayana.
Mr Krishank then prepared to contest as an independent candidate, but finally decided not to contest as he was assured by the party that he would be considered for the Lok Sabha elections. Now he has been denied that too.
He pointed out that though political parties are always saying that the youth should come into politics, they do not really encourage younger politicians.
He said in the hope of getting a party ticket he had amassed a large amount of campaign material such as party banners, flags and pamphlets and he has burnt all that now.
