Asaduddin Owaisi files nomination papers from Hyderabad LS constituency

Mr Owaisi has been representing the Hyderabad constituency since 2004 and is seeking re-election for the fourth consecutive term.

Hyderabad: MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi filed his nomination papers from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency on Monday. He reached the Hyderabad Collectorate along with party general secretary and Yakutpura MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri and a few sympathisers. He filed his papers before the returning officer and Hyderabad collector Manicka Raj.

Mr Owaisi has been representing the Hyderabad constituency since 2004 and is seeking re-election for the fourth consecutive term. Prior to this he was MLA from Charminar twice. Hyderabad has been an MIM stronghold since 1984; his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi represented the constituency from 1984 to 2004 over six consecutive terms. After filing the papers, he tweeted “Alhamdulilah, filed my nomination papers today. Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency has been the voice of India’s impoverished, oppressed & weak. Inshallah, it will continue to be so.”

Mr Owaisi then went to the Dargah Hazrat Yousufain, Nampally, where he performed the noon prayers and paid floral tributes to the saints. Later, in the evening he launched his campaign from Nawab Sahab Kunta, a bastion of the MUM. He took out a rally and interacted with the residents and heard their problems and grievances. He sought blessings from elderly men and women.
