Will win Nanjangud, Gundlupet seats, says BS Yeddyurappa

Voters' turnout at BJP rallies in two constituencies indicates they are disillusioned with CM Siddaramaiah's rule.

Bengaluru: An impressive turnout of voters at rallies organized by his party mirrors the fact that people are disillusioned with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s administration and will ensure victory of BJP candidates in next month’s bypolls to fill two vacancies in the Legislative Assembly, state unit president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa announced on Saturday.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle while campaigning in Nanjangud Assembly constituency, Mr. Yeddyurappa said his party colleagues and himself are confident of winning both the seats.

“This large turnout of voters at BJP rallies and their expression of displeasure against the Congress government confirms our victory in both constituencies. It will spell the beginning of the end of Mr Siddaramaiah’s government”, he added.

The Lingayat strongman stated that the party has evolved a strategy to win both seats in old Mysuru region, and therefore some former ministers have been designated to work in these constituencies.

“I have asked former ministers Shobha Karandlaje, V. Somanna, C.T. Ravi and Aravinda Limbavali to oversee elections in both constituencies. I have addressed a series of rallies in both constituencies, and am confident that our party candidates will be win by big margins”, Mr. Yeddyurappa added.

Mr. Yeddyurappa perceived early elections to the Assembly as he felt the government headed by Mr Siddaramaiah would not complete its term.
