Congress copied BJP welfare programmes in Karnataka: Bommai

Mangaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has asked AICC general secretary Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala to resolve the internal conflict within the party before commenting on the state of affairs in Karnataka.

Bommai was speaking to reporters at Hubballi on Sunday morning.

“What does Surjewala know about Karnataka? Let him set the house in order and solve the infight within the Congress before speaking about us,” Bommai said while reacting to Surjewala’s attack on BJP.

In response to Surjewala’s criticism of the BJP, Bommai asserted that it was actually Congress that copied the BJP programmes. He cited the example of the ‘Grihini Shakti’ programme.

“After we declared the ‘Grihini Shakti,’ programme, Congress came out with the ‘Grihalakshmi’ programme. Surjewala does not seem to remember,” he added.

Bommai accused Congress of creating chaos in the state.

“Congress had created hell in Karnataka due to which people ousted them from power and defeated them. They are the most irresponsible opposition. Such talks will not have any impact. People will not be misled. People know who has done what,” he said.

Bommai said that the government would ensure the implementation of the Budget programmes.

“Like last year, this year too we will set up a committee led by the Chief Secretary to overlook the implementation,” he assured.

Reacting sharply to the ‘flower on ear’ campaign initiated by the Congress party, Bommai said that the flowers would be permanently on the ears of the Congress after the election.
