Congress questions English medium move in TS

efore introducing English medium in state-run schools, it is minimum responsibility of any government to provide the required resources

JAGTIAL: MLC T. Jeevan Reddy of Congress has accused TRS government of taking decisions without having proper knowledge about the education system.

“Before introducing English medium in state-run schools, it is minimum responsibility of any government to provide the required resources. Even after completing seven years of his rule, TRS government has not conducted a single Teachers’ Eligibility Test till date, when they must be held every six months,” Jeevan Reddy stated.

Speaking to media at Indira Bhavan in Jagtial district on Tuesday, he pointed out that around 20,000 posts of teachers are lying vacant in the state. Without providing basic amenities required for running English medium parallel to Telugu medium in state-run schools, how can the government make such an announcement, he asked.

The senior Congress leader accused the TRS government of not taking any initiative to open women and tribal universities despite the central government sanctioning them for Telangana. Instead, it has given permission to start five private universities. He alleged that TRS government is trying to dilute government education system in the state

Jeevan Reddy maintained that he has not seen such a foolish government in his 40 years of political career. A state with surplus funds has run into debts. There are times when Congress feels disappointed over sanctioning a separate Telangana, he remarked.

Congress party leaders K. Mohan, B. Shankar, K. Durgaiah, K. Jagan, G. Rajendar and P. Ramu were among those present at the press conference.
