Ex-minister faces ire of party workers in Araku

Visakhapatnam: Former minister and senior TD leader Nakka Ananda Babu faced the ire of crowds in Araku in ASR district on Monday when he went there to mobilise party workers to attend the Yuvagalam public meeting in Bhogapuram on Dec 20.

They were agitated as Dunna Dora was made incharge of the Araku constituency for the 2024 elections. Sravan Kumar and Siveri Abraham were strong contenders for MLA ticket. Both had lost their fathers in 2018 when Maoists gunned them down.

During the meeting, several loyalists raised slogans against some party leaders and one of them said he would hurl his shoe at party chief Chandrababu Naidu.

They told the media that after the two were gunned down, Sravan Kumar was made a minister while his younger brother was appointed as group 1 officer. But Abraham was given a raw deal.

“Both Chandrababu Naidu and Atchennaidu promised me that I would be given the Araku ticket for the 2024 elections but suddenly they appointed Dunna Dora,’’ Abraham told the media.

Local sources said Dunna Dora has more hold in the constituency as he belonged to the dominant Konda Dora caste. Abraham, the first cousin of Dora, lacked support in the rural areas.
