Yadav lodged a complaint with the Osmania University police alleging that the attackers were TRS activists sent by TRS MLA Balka Suman

Hyderabad: A law student, Suresh Yadav, of Osmania University was allegedly attacked by a group of 20 men inside his hostel room late on Wednesday night. They were drunk and armed with iron rods and beer bottles, he said.

Yadav lodged a complaint with the Osmania University police alleging that the attackers were TRS activists who had been sent by TRS MLA Balka Suman to assault him. After beating him, Yadav said, the group left the premises with his mobile phone and Rs 5,000 cash. The police has booked a case and started an investigation.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Yadav said that he went to sleep around 10.30 pm in his room in the D Hostel on the campus. “They were sent by TRS MLA Balka Suman. About 20 men, including Shishupal Yadav, barged into my room around 11.30 pm and started hurling abuses at me before attacking me. It was a blowback from my speeches about employment notifications,” said the student, adding that he had lodged a complaint against the men.

The Osmania University police said that they had booked cases against Sishupal and about 20 others under Section 143 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 390 (forcefully taking money without consent), and 379 read with 149 (theft) of the IPC and an investigation was launched into the issue.
