Blacklist Divis Labs: Communist Party of India (Marxist)
Kakinada: Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) national leader Mr. B.V. Raghavulu has demanded that Divis Labs should be put in blacklist as the company was producing drugs with below standards.
Addressing a public meetingd at Narsipet village under Danavaipet panchayat in Thondangi Mandal of East Godavari District on Saturday, he said some of the international agencies were inspecting drugs produced by the company and there are many doubts in standards of the drugs. He called upon the people to merge Divis into Bay of Bengal, if the company adopts suppressive measures on the people of the area.
He expressed anger over finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. He said Ramakrishnudu, who hails from a backward community, is now protecting the interests of upper castes. He said the state government was suppressing the agitation of the local people against the establishment of Divis unit in Kona area.
He alleged that the company had caused extensive environment contamination in other places where the unit works and several people have lost their lives and the people in the vicinity of the unit are suffering great hardships. He said that the police and also the district higher officials were acting on behalf of Divis Labs undemocratically.
“The police are booking cases against the farmers on the pretext of entering into their fields. Now, the farmers should file cases against Divis Labs as the company illegally entered into their fields.” He said the company constructed a guest house for a TD leader in the area. He said that TD leaders should recommend the company to construct such guest houses for everyone, residing in the area. He said due to establishment of the company, the hatchery sector would be ruined and it will lead to lose lot of employment in the area.
The CPM leader said their party would intensify the agitation against the establishment of the company’s unit in the East Godavari district.
