TRS govt not bothered about farmer's issues: Etala
Karimnagar: The TRS government is not showing any interest in resolving farmer issues and is mainly focused on defeating me, alleged former minister and BJP leader Etala Rajendar on Sunday.
He was participating in the bypoll campaign in Huzurabad mandal of Karimnagar district on Sunday. Rajendar noticed some farmers trying to dry their paddy grains on the roadside after they got wet in rain water, and interacted with them.
In a speech there, Rajendar alleged that when the farmers were facing rain-related problems, the government made an announcement that it would not purchase paddy from them. Many farmers in Huzurabad depend on paddy cultivation, he said.
“In the past, when KCR announced that the government is not going to purchase paddy from farmers, I fought with him for the sake of farmers and told him that under any circumstances, the government must procure all the paddy produced by the farmers in the state,” the former minister said.
Rajendar said that on a number of occasions, “KCR had boasted that ‘Telangana is the richest state in the country’. Then, why did he not sanction interest-free loans to women groups? Keeping in view the by-elections, the government sanctioned loans to women societies, but only in Huzurabad,” he said.
“I learnt that the TRS has brought Rs 100 crore worth of liquor loaded in lorries to Huzurabad for luring voters. They are not sheep, they have self-respect and will not fall for money or liquor. They will, instead, teach a fitting lesson to the TRS in the by-election,” the BJP leader claimed.
