Andhra Pradesh officials gear up for counting of parishad votes

The CS wanted a district officer in-charge to oversee arrangements at each counting centre

VIJAYAWADA: Chief secretary Aditya Nath Das directed district collectors and SPs to make all arrangements to ensure smooth counting of ZPTC and MPTC votes across the state on Sunday. He sought an action plan from them on going about it and strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.

In a video conference with district collectors, SPs, DPOs, ZPCEOs and other officials ahead of the counting of parishad votes, here on Friday, the CS asked all SPs to clamp Section 144 within 100 metres of counting centres. He wanted a district officer in-charge to oversee arrangements at each counting centre and entrusting the responsibility of the entire counting process to JCs.

Chief secretary, panchayat raj and rural development, Gopala Krishna Dwivedi said that they would be readily available to clear doubts regarding counting of votes.

Additional DGP (law and order) Ravi Shankar pointed out that CCTV surveillance would be in place across all counting centres.

Panchayat raj commissioner Girija Shankar sought uninterrupted power supply at counting centres, another training phase for the counting staff and full CCTV coverage when ballot boxes are brought to the counting hall.
