Anand to fly VIPs to B’luru to press for Vijayanagar dist

Mr Singh who was recently acquitted in one of the Belekeri port export cases is going all out to retain by-poll bound Hosapete constituency.

Ballari: In a style which reminded many of the Reddy minelords of Ballari, disqualified Congress MLA from Vijayanagar (Hosapete) constituency B.S. Anand Singh, who too is a mining baron, has booked two special flights to fly religious heads and political leaders to Bengaluru Wednesday for a meeting with CM B.S. Yediyurappa.

Sources close to Mr Singh said that the two special flights will take off from Vidyanagar airport, 30 km away from here at 7 am carrying religious and community heads, legislators, former legislators and veteran activists to Bengaluru to meet Yediyurappa at his home office at 10 am. “This delegation will submit a memorandum demanding a separate Hosapete-centric Vijayanagar district which can be carved out of Ballari,” said a source adding that pontiffs of Ujjini matha, Kotturswamy matha and Hampi Vidyaranya matha will lead the delegation.

Mr Singh who was recently acquitted in one of the Belekeri port export cases is going all out to retain by-poll bound Hosapete constituency. He is now considered close to BJP leaders and was the first among 17 Congress and JD(S) MLAs to resign.
