Chennai: The BJP celebrated the 68th birthday of their leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by gifting gold ring to a baby born at a primary health centre (PHC) at Purasawalkam here on Monday.
Party's state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan presented the gold ring to the newborn at the government-run PHC besides she gave away baby gift packs to about 18 children recently born at the PHC. The BJP had recently announced that the party would present gold rings to all babies born at the PHC on Monday. Accordingly, the party president presented a gold ring to a lone child born on Monday.
"Visited the grand old primary health centre in the locality of Purasawalkam. Gifted gold Rings to children born today on the birthday of Hon'ble PM and gifted baby gift packs to all babies in the hospital. Starting from this programme other service activities and programs continues," Dr Tamilisai who is a doctor by profession tweeted, posting her photos with the newborn at the hospital.
The party's state cooperative wing and Kancheepuram district unit also distributed welfare aid to several people to mark the Prime Minister's birthday.
