CPM violence: BJP wants judge probe in Kannur

The BJP team will visit Governor P. Sathasivam and submit a memorandum seeking a probe into the CPM attacks in Kannur.

KANNUR: The BJP MPs who visited the houses of the victims of the CPM violence in Kannur have demanded an independent inquiry by a High Court judge into the alleged attacks. Team member and Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan Bhoopendra Yadav said that the dictatorship by the CPM in Kannur had resulted in the attacks against other party workers. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Uttara Kannada MP Anant Kumar Hegde were the other members in the team.

Addressing the press after visiting the houses, the MPs said that the CPM was violating the fundamental rights of the citizens in Kannur. “The attacks are happening continuously in the district of the Chief Minister and the CPM state secretary. The CPM, which started murder politics in 1969 by killing RSS worker Vadikkal Ramakrishnan, is continuing the same strategy of eliminating political opponents by weapons,” said Yadav. “BJP respects all parties and will ensure that human rights are not violated in any place. The state government-sponsored attacks by the CPM against the BJP workers will lead to the death of CPM in Kerala, just like what happened in West Bengal,” he added.

BJP state president Kummanam Rajashekharan said that within the first 100 days of the LDF rule, more than 100 attacks were reported against other party members in the state. “On the one hand they (the CPM) say that they are ready for talks and on the other they attack BJP workers. Not just the BJP, but Congress, IUML and CPI workers are also facing threats from the CPM,” he said.
The BJP team will visit Governor P. Sathasivam and submit a memorandum seeking a probe into the CPM attacks in Kannur. The team visited the district based on the direction from BJP national president Amit Shah. The team will also visit Thiruvanantha-puram.
