TPCC Chief releases application form for contesting candidates in Assembly

Hyderabad: Stating that the Congress party would select candidates for contesting in ensuing Assembly elections in a transparent manner, the TPCC Chief and MP A Revanth Reddy on Friday released an application form for contesting in ensuing Assembly elections in Telangana.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, Revanth Reddy said that an interested candidate to contest from Congress party can obtain application forms from a counter which is set up at Gandhi Bhavan by paying application fee.

"We will collect Rs 25,000 from SC, ST candidates and Rs 50,000 others as application fee. The funds will be deposited to party funds and will not be refundable," the TPCC Chief said.

A single aspirant can apply for one or more assembly seats to contest by paying off fee but the Central Election Committee and Screening Committee will examine application forms and send proposals to AICC. The AICC will take final decision in selecting right candidates to contest in ensuing Assembly elections in the state.

"A few TV channels, newspapers and youtube channels are making false news about the confirmation of candidates to contest from the Congress party. The TPCC started accepting applications from interested candidates from August 18 and it will continue till August 25," Revanth Reddy said.

The Central Election Committee, Screening Committee would thoroughly verify the application forms based on the candidates activities in the congress party. The committee would consider the grounds such as party activities, surveys, working on making memberships, possibilities on winning the seat and other capabilities to select the candidates for contesting in Assembly elections," the TPCC said.

Revanth Reddy reiterated that any TPCC senior leaders and CLP leaders, AICC leaders who want to contest in Assembly elections, have to apply by paying off fee seeking AICC's nod. "There will be no recommendations, assurances for candidates. Don't trust in rumours in the selection process. The AICC will take decisions in selecting the right candidates," Revanth Reddy said.
