Stalin slams Tamil Nadu govt over reopening of liquor stores in Chennai

Opening liquot outlets outside Chennai limits was a prime reason for the spike in Covid-19 cases, he said

DMK President M K Stalin said ‘No’ to the opening of liquor shops in the area under Greater Chennai Police limits on Tuesday, saying that it would lead to an increase in the spread of Coronavirus.

Even after knowing that opening the TASMAC shops outside the Chennai limits was a prime reason for the spike in Covid-19 cases, it is a mistake to open them in the city also, Stalin said in a tweet.

‘It is inhuman to think only of income and not bother about the health of people,’ he said, adding that when the virility of the Coronavirus spread had not subsided it was not proper to open the liquor shops.

Speaking to media persons, TNCC President K S Alagiri said the people would teach a lesson to the government for opening the liquor shops now.
