K. Chandrasekhar Rao sets 90-day limit for Yadadri temple

Mr Rao walked around the premises for about two-and-a-half hours along with officials and directed them to get the temple ready within three months.

Hyderabad: Expressing displeasure at the delay in restoration and renovation works at the Yadadri temple, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday directed the authorities to get the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple ready within three months.

Mr Rao walked around the premises for about two-and-a-half hours along with officials and then held a marathon review meeting with officials, architects and sculptors for about five hours at Yadadri.

He pointed out that work was behind schedule everywhere except in the temple. The officials should have informed if they needed funds. He said `692 crore has been spent on the temple, infrastructure and other amenities.

He said donors were ready to donate about Rs 400 crore for the construction of 250 cottages to accommodate pilgrims and asked authorities finalise the designs and begin construction.

Mr Rao had earlier said he would perform the Mahasudarshana Yagam, which requires about 100 acres, at Yadadri. On Saturday, he visited the open spaces surrounding the temple and the Rs 150-crore road.

Earlier, Mr Rao drove to the temple from Hyderabad and was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the temple. He along with some of his Cabinet colleagues performed special prayers.
