Presidential polls: MLA stopped from voting due to shirt

All the 90 MLAs in the Chhattisgarh Assembly cast their votes.

Bhopal: An independent MLA of Chhattisgarh legislative assembly on Monday created a flutter by entering into the House wearing slogan scribbled shirt to cast vote in the presidential elections.

Independent legislator Bimal Chopra who entered state Assembly wearing a shirt appended with a poster in which a pro-farmer slogan was written, was denied to cast his votes on the ground that campaigning in any form has been disallowed in the polling station. Later, Mr Chopra cast his vote by covering his shirt with a jacket. All the 90 MLAs in the Chhattisgarh Assembly cast their votes.

Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi’s son Amit said he cast his ballot for Opposition candidate Meira Kumar.

Mr Amit has recently been expelled from Congress for in connection with alleged fixing of Antagarh assembly bypoll helping ruling BJP win the seat by defeating the Congress candidate.
