Opposition flays ministers for threatening Kamal Haasan

Leaders including MDMK general secretary Vaiko, Left party leaders and VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan too flayed the ministers.

Chennai: MK working president M.K. Stalin on Monday dared the AIADMK ministers to file cases against him instead of threatening actor Kamal Haasan with cases.

Leaders including MDMK general secretary Vaiko, Left party leaders and VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan too flayed the ministers.

Speaking to the media after voting in the Presidential elections, Stalin said described the threats to Kamal Haasan as anti-democratic. Stalin pointed out that he had made corruption charges against Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, health minister and police officer.

MDMK general secretary Vaiko too condemned the threats to Kamal Haasan and said it would go against the state government. Speaking to reporters at Erode, he said eveyone had the freedom to criticise the government and asked the ministers to stop their threats.

The ministers are making derogatory comments on Kamal Haasan whose criticism against corruption was at a minimum level, CPM state secretary G. Ramakrishnan said.

The ministers could deny the allegations, but they should not attribute motives to his comments. Opining that the actor had only spoken the truth, CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan said the ministers should not come out comments beyond politics to threaten Kamal Haasan.

VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan every citizen of the country had the right to give their opinion on the government. But, he should speak within limits and with evidence, he added.
