Corporator murder case: Warangal DCC chief innocent, says Uttam Kumar Reddy

Several DCC presidents met in Gandhi Bhavan on Monday and reviewed the incident.

Hyderabad: Stating that Warangal DCC president N. Rajender Reddy was being falsely implicated in the murder of corporator Anishetty Murali Manohar in Warangal, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday requested Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to direct the DGP to order another inquiry into the case.

In a letter to the CM, the TPCC chief said that the inquiry should be conducted by officers other than the ones conducting the investigation at present.

He said that after the murder of the corporator on July 13, the main accused surrendered before the local police and admitted to their crime. However, two days later, the police named Mr Rajender Reddy and Congress leaders Pothula Sreeman and Kanuganti Shekar as accused, at the behest of local TRS leaders, the TPCC president said.

He said that the police claimed that Mr Rajender Reddy planned the murder in December 2015 but at that time, he was grieving for his only son who had died in a road accident.

Meanwhile, several DCC presidents met in Gandhi Bhavan on Monday and reviewed the incident.

Later, they alleged before the media that despite Mr Rajender Reddy not having any rivalry with Murali, he was falsely implicated in the case, only due to pressure from local TRS leaders.

They said with this attitude of the TRS and police, it would be difficult for the leaders of other political parties to survive.
