PMK to move Madras HC on fair polls: S Ramadoss
Chennai: PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss on Sunday said that his party would move the Madras High Court seeking a direction to ensure free and fair conduct of ensuing local body polls. After releasing his party's 14th draft shadow budget here, he said that his party would petition the state election commission to prevent the ruling AIADMK plan to win the elections through any means.
“In the local body polls, the ruling party is planning to establish a new kind of democracy. If the ruling party was allowed to execute the plan, it may lead to
massive clash,” he noted.
Reiterating that only PMK has been following the Western countries model of releasing shadow budget for the past 14 successive years in the country, Dr Ramadoss said that this year's budget has been drafted in a such a way that gross revenue of the state gone up to 2.76 lakh crore which is 1.04 crore more than last year's budget.
“The revenue from effective handling of natural mines and streamlining of commercial tax collections will be 92,000 crore,” he said. PMK leader said that the education loans availed by the students who are jobless would be written off and the government would compensate the nationalised banks.
Power bills would be reduced by 10 per cent and billing would be made monthly which would help reduce the bills by 25 per cent, he said, adding that bus ticket fare would also be reduced for the first time.
