Factional fights, murders back after lull in Kurnool
KURNOOL: Kurnool woke up on Thursday to the deafening news of double-murder of Vaddu Nageshwar Reddy and his brother Prathap Reddy at Pesaravai village in Gadivmeula mandal, which spread like a wild fire in the district.
Family members of the deceased were inconsolable. Santhi, the daughter of Pratap Reddy, hugged the blood-soaked bodies and screamed violently, "Now there is no male member in the family. But I will avenge the deaths."
“What wrong did my dad do? Is it wrong to work for a party he believes in,” she asked.
Gouru Charitha Reddy, former Panyam MLA and TD leader, said as the panchayat elections were over, the YSRC had stepped up pressure on TD activists to join them or face the consequences. Prathap Reddy had been beaten up during the recent elections by the followers of rival Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, the Panyam MLA.
Alleging that Banaganapalle’s murder politics has badly affected life in Panyam constituency, he blamed Rambhupal Reddy for this heinous turn. “The ruling party MLAs are turning restless and targeting those who take a different line. There is no peace in the district,” Charitha Reddy alleged.
The faction-ridden villages in the district have been seething in anger after the recent gram panchayat elections where TD activists bravely stood up against the YSRC’s single-minded agenda of eliminating its political rivals, said Gouru Venkat Reddy, TD’s Nandyal parliamentary constituency president.
Telugu Desam general secretary Nara Lokesh would visit Pesaravai village to console the bereaved family, said Venkat Reddy.
