Murali papers false: Kummanam Rajasekharan

The returning officer permitted Mr Muraleedharan to participate in the election, Mr Kummanam argued.

Kochi: BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan on Friday moved Kerala High Court challenging the election of Congress leader K. Muraleedharan from Vattiyoorkavu Assembly constituency. He alleged that Mr Muraleedharan had suppressed his assets and liabilities while submitting the nomination. Without considering the objection, the returning officer permitted Mr Muraleedharan to participate in the election, Mr Kummanam argued.

Mr Muraleedharan won by a margin of 7622 votes against Mr Kummanam Rajasekharan from the constituency. According to Mr Kummanam, on scrutiny of the nomination, it was found that Mr Muraleedharan being the managing director of Janapriya Communication Limited had filed the return of the company and its financial status before the corporate affairs department of the central government.

In that financial statement, it was stated that an amount of Rs 2.28 cr had been given to Mr Muraleedharan being a key management personal as loan. It also discloses that an amount of Rs 16,25400 had been paid as rent to Mr Muraleedharan. In the details given in the nomination submitted, Mr Muraleedharan admitted that he is the major share holder in Janapriya Communication Ltd with an investment of Rs 3.39 crore. But the two critical pieces of information regarding the assets and liabilities had been suppressed from the nomination details.
