Centre plans to shut Adilabad CCI unit permanentlyi

Recently, the Centre issued an online electronic bid through Electronic Tendering System (ETS) invited for the appointment of valuers

Adilabad: It is said that the Central government led by BJP is not in favour of the revival of the Adilabad unit of Cement Corporation of India (CCI) that was closed in 2008.

This was confirmed by Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI) after it recently issued an online electronic bid through Electronic Tendering System (ETS) invited for the appointment of valuers for the assessment of the assets required for the disposal of the plant, machinery with the plant’s structure, store and scrap and dismantling quarters of the township of Adilabad branch of CCI.

The bid was invited for the Adilabad factory along with a bid for two factories in Chattisgarh, one each from Karnataka, Madya Pradesh. In the e-tender it was stated that the submission of the tenders will start on May 5.

On the other hand, the people of Adilabad have been agitating for the revival of the closed factory. However, the leaders of the trade union affiliated with AITUC say that the case challenging the closure of the factory was pending in the court.

Recently, Minister for municipal administration K.T. Rama Rao requested the Central government to take steps for the revival of the factory and even offered some subsidies on the behalf of the state government. He also appealed to the Centre to hand it over to the state government if they do not revive it.
