Edapadi K Palaniswami, Panneerselvam make final bid to woo voters

Chennai: The AIADMK has presented its performance score-card along with a manifesto of promises while summing up the high-decibel campaign for the bypolls to four Assembly seats. In a joint appeal by AIADMK co-coordinator and Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam and joint coordinator and CM Edapadi K. Palaniswami on Friday, they asked voters of Assembly constituencies — Sulur, Aravakurichi, Thiruparankundram and Ottapidaram (SC) — to cast their votes for the party’s two-leaves symbol in the byelections on Sunday.

Listing the developmental works carried out by the AIADMK government, they stated that the party provided free rice to 1.85 crore ration card holders, free power supply to consumers to 100 units, free power supply to power loom weavers up to 750 units of power and 250 units of free power to weavers.

The government had made efforts to make power surplus in the state an launched the foundation stone for the Athikadavu-Avinasi project for farmers in Coimbatore, Erode and Tiruppur.

Steps were taken to solve the vexed Cauvery water issue and set up the Cauvery Water Management Board. After a gap of 63 years, the Mettur reservoir had been desilted and sand from desiltation given to farmers free of cost.

Efforts were made to set up an AIIMS hospital at an estimate of Rs 1264 crore in Thoppur near Madurai, 250 drinking water augmentation projects from the Melur-Cauvery combined water project, development of the RGGH in Madurai and establishment of defence corridor on 200 acres in near Coimbatore.
