Differences in YSRC come to fore

Though it is common practice to put up flex boards to welcome new ministers, no flex board of Govardhan Reddy was found in Nellore city

NELLORE: Differences between former minister and Nellore City legislator P. Anilkumar Yadav and Sarvepalli MLA and new agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy came to fore during the latter’s first visit to Nellore city after becoming minister on Sunday.

Anilkumar organised a meeting with his followers in the city near the busy Gandhi statue centre at the same time when Govardhan Reddy was entering the city for the first time after becoming minister. Anilkumar justified his meeting under the plea that he had planned it four days ago.

Further, though it is common practice to put up flex boards and banners to welcome new ministers from the district, no flex board of Govardhan Reddy was found in Nellore city segment represented by Anilkumar, contrary to scores of flex banners in Nellore rural segment. Anilkumar explained this away saying they have done away with flex boards, including his own, for last two years as a matter of policy in Nellore city constituency.

Notwithstanding these differences, a large number of the new minister’s followers joined his convoy when he reached Nellore. Further, Kavali MLA Ramireddy Pratapkumar Reddy accompanied him from Kavali along with his followers.
Kandukur legislator M. Mahidhar Reddy, Venkatagiri MLA Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Udayagiri legislator Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy, Nellore rural segment office in-charge Koamreddy Giridhar Reddy, Nellore MP Adala Prabhakar Reddy, Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Tirupati MP Dr Gurumoorthy and MLC Balli Kalyan turned up at YSR Congress office to greet Kakani.

However, former minister Anilkumar Yadav was conspicuously absent.
Meanwhile, Govardhan Reddy has denied any differences with former minister Anil Kumar. Addressing media at Kavali after receiving a rousing reception, the minister said he does not consider Anilkumar’s meeting a parallel one. It is just media’s exaggeration, Govardhan Reddy maintained. He asserted that YSRC will win all assembly segments in Nellore district during the 2024 assembly polls.
