UDF alleges ‘Cash for vote’ in Kollam

Meanwhile, Balagopal said even the UDF workers will not believe the baseless allegation raised by Premachandran.

Kollam: The UDF has come up with ‘cash for vote’ allegation against LDF candidate K.N. Balagopal saying the front was attempting to distribute money to cashew workers with the help of a local MLA, aiming to reach out to some 10,000 voters. It is also alleged that an event management company has deployed its employees in three batches of 70 each to distribute the money.

RSP central committee member Shibu Baby John (UDF) alleged money has been sourced from a private cashew owner in Kollam and an event management company has been entrusted with distribution of the same in exchange of votes from the workers. A Left MLA in Kollam is pulling the strings for the event, he alleged.

UDF candidate N.K. Premachandran said the LDF has planned ‘cash for vote’ campaign by identifying over 3,000 families in the constituency.

Meanwhile, Balagopal said even the UDF workers will not believe the baseless allegation raised by Premachandran.

“All these allegations by Premachandran stem from fear of failure in election,” said Balagopal.
